[[Oh LORD there are so many good points in his canon I don’t know if I can pick one-

one of my favorite scenes is honestly one of my least favorite as well - Damas’s death scene

Jak doesn’t realize who Damas really is to him until after he’s dead, but even before that when they’re talking you can see how distraught he is, trying to find some sort of hope to cling to that he’ll survive somehow. He’d come to look up to Damas. He didn’t see his Dark form and dismiss it as a monster, didn’t dismiss him as some overly-violent kid that needed a tighter leash - he saw a warrior, one that just needed a little more experience, and Jak couldn’t have appreciated that more. 

He looked up to Damas, and the man was dying right there in front of him and he couldn’t do a thing about it. 

And afterward, when he realizes the truth and Veger rubs it in his face, when Daxter - normally staying towards the back and following Jak’s lead, and until then rather quiet - jumps up and initiates the ‘let’s go kill that guy’ objective, Jak’s just caught off-guard. It’s not unpleasant surprise, but just…different.
