Her heart rose into her throat as it neared closer to her- suddenly invading a space she didn’t know she had until now. And that space was mostly closed off to monsters with lurker shark teeth. He seemed to be studying her, not a malicious intent in it’s movements. She stayed cautious as he sniffed at her neck, she could feel her bones locking in place. She didn’t understand what this beast was doing, and uncertainty scared her. He didn’t talk, he didn’t make one sound. All she felt was his breath fluttering down her shoulder.

She flinched again when it let out a snarl and flew out of the garage at a break-neck pace, leaving her alone in the concrete building. All at once she felt her body release, finally being able to breathe. When she was certain the creature wasn’t coming back, she crawled to the back, stuffing herself between the side of the old couch and the wall. There she curled up, her head resting on her knees and her arms folded around them. She was scared, and alone, all over again. Just like that, she had to deal with it by herself. She shook her head; she didn’t know what she was expecting, it always turned out like this. He had left her. Like he always did.

He’d caught the trail of the man somewhere in the Slums, but couldn’t focus on following it for all the guards about. Prickling, prodding electric weapons and blaster-fire. He growled, finally getting fed up, and picked up a zoomer in his claws, launching it at one of the airborne ones carrying a guard. The two crafts exploded and fell to the ground in a fireball, and in the confusion he slipped off to a back alley, waiting out the alert.
