Dax was tired from the blood loss. It wasn’t a ton, but enough to just make him limp. He rested against the bar once his scar was stitched and bandaged. He barely even felt the pain of the needle in his skin compared to the slash in his chest.
He wanted all those touches from his friend. He returned them each time, fingers dancing on his arm, brushing against his chest. Just anything. He needed him now more than ever, though he’d never admit it willingly. He was so thankful for Tess and him. He would miss the blonde, but somehow he knew things would work out and he’d see her again. But for now, they were done. They were hurt from someone they could have called friend. So much for that.
Jak gently pulled the redhead to him when he was bandaged up, glancing up to Tess. He tossed her an apology with his eyes alone, his expression summing up the situation pretty well. They needed somewhere quieter, somewhere less crowded. She unlocked the door behind the bar and indicated a small storage room in the back of the bar.
“You could probably sleep there for the night if you wanted, but stay too long and Krew’ll notice. Be careful, you two…”
“Tess, you’re an angel. Thank you…”
