The ex-KG sighed, staring at the screen of his communicator - made even brighter by the fact it was almost 2 AM and he’d been asleep until it went off. He grumbled and after a moment rolled out of bed, moving to dress at least halfway decently enough to leave the room.

'stay there, I’ll be there in a few.’

After the communicator blipped Jak’s reply he shut it, heading outside. The Zoomer he’d left parked outside the hideout was still there, hovering patiently just off the ground. It was a short drive across the Slums to the Industrial Sector, and from there to the Port, where the Hip Hog Heaven Saloon lay tucked away. It was a dingy, hole-in-the-wall establishment, one Torn hated quite readily - even moreso for the fact the green-blonde he was currently after frequented it. As soon as he stepped through the door he saw why the texts had come, heaving a sigh.

Jak was laid over the bar talking to Tess, obviously intoxicated from the way he barely lifted his head from the countertop and couldn’t seem to focus. With a roll of his eyes he ignored the bleary-eyed, excited-puppy look Jak gave him in greeting, throwing one of the teen’s arms around his shoulders and hauling him up.

“Come on. You’ve had about enough alcohol for one night. Or several.” He glanced back as Tess cleared her throat behind him, raising a brow.

“Take good care of them…” she murmured, her voice small. “He…they’ve both been through a lot today.” She merely turned away from his questioning look, moving to help another customer at the bar - figures. He escorted the teen outside, resolutely ignoring the rat’s drunken ramblings. 

The mop of blonde hair that refused to stop nuzzling into his side on the drive home didn’t help his patience much.
